Melodie Cowan has been practicing Holistic Bodywork since 2010, after finishing a 1000hr Holistic Massage program at Langara College. She studied Reiki extensively and reached her Masters in Usui Reiki as well as level 2 Karuna Reiki from Mahada Thomas from 2011-2013, while living near Tofino on Vancouver Island. She studied 250hrs, 5 seminars of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Body Intelligence in Victoria BC in 2014, and recently updated her skills with 112hrs, 4 levels of Biosomatic Craniosacral with Kari Toft of Visionary Craniosacral in Vancouver, 2021-2023
After working for Fairmont Spas doing Bodywork full-time for the past 10 years, She is taking a break from massage and focusing on building a practice primarily focusing on the Craniosacral Therapy and Reiki.
She started Bio-Ki Wellness with the goal of helping people optimize their energy for life- Bio means life, and Ki means energy.
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality created by Mikao Usui. It is predicated on the understanding that there is a spiritual (rei) universal life force energy (ki) that permeates all of existence, and that when it is blocked in the body it can culminate in mental emotional and physical imbalances or illness. Reiki practitioners facilitate opening the flow of energy around and throughout the body. Reiki is just as effective when done remotely as in person as there is no disconnection in energy over space and time.
Reiki is beneficial for releasing daily stresses as well as deeper more chronic imbalances. It can help release blocked emotions, physical tension, increase awareness, find mental clarity and peace, as well as facilitate a sense of flow, increased creativity and wellbeing.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) was developed based on the later work of the esteemed Osteopath, Dr William Sutherland. It is a modality of listening deeply to the rhythms of the energy, fluid and tissue dynamics in the body. Listening from a place of spacious awareness and anatomical articulation, the body is able to achieve deeper levels of release. Recipients claim that BCST helps cultivate more awareness, self compassion, and greater sense of health and wellbeing. As the nervous system is able to release held tension and integrate traumatic experiences a greater sense of ease, will arise as well as appreciation of the wisdom of the body.
Biosomatic Craniosacral Therapy is a unique blend of both biodynamic and biomechanical, Upledger style approaches to craniosacral, pulling from techniques and philosophies of both to meet each clients unique needs.
Craniosacral Therapy is beneficial for dis-regulated nervous systems. As the nervous system is freed from tension it allows for greater ease of movement, and circulation. You might feel more connected to your body and be more attuned to your own needs, and ability to find balance and harmony.

Reiki treatment at a distance with the lovely and ever so talented Melodie Cowan was a wonderful surprise! Being an intuitive person, I had no doubt in her ability to connect with me on an energetic level. Firstly, Melodie allows time for one to disclose what is of their utmost intention with their treatment session. Though, she does not push for any such discussion and allows the conversation to flow naturally and organically. Music or no music is an option during the treatment session, which for me, I found music to be a kind and gentle way to allow for my mind to float elsewhere and for my body to completely relax. Prior to music being played, Melodie commences with a verbal guided breath meditation to allow one to settle into their body so as to prepare for their treatment session. Once music is played, the magic begins! During the course of the treatment session, sensations of extreme cold and heaviness left my body. Firstly, these sensations left my body starting at my mid chest, followed by my arms, head, back, legs and feet. Images of people, and situations in my life that are both positive and negative experiences, helped me release emotions associated with the aforementioned and feeling lighter within the midline of my body. In turn, helping me to take slower and deeper breaths, and leaving me feeling calm and with a new sense of clarity I did not possess prior to the start of treatment. To end the session, Melodie provides feedback as to her experience pertaining to the energetic release; which, for me, was accurate and added to the foundation of trust I had already built with her from the start of our treatment session. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Melodie as a practitioner trained to help those of which feel energetic blockages as it pertains to their physical, spiritual and emotional well being. Distance Reiki is a safe and gentle treatment approach and for those also experiencing pain, have nothing to fear in trying it!

I have had the pleasure of working with Melodie for over 5 years in one of the most beautiful Spa atmospheres, one that supported an all-encompassing self-escape kind of day with a variety of body treatments and massage. As much as it was that, and as much as it fostered so much of our growth and interaction with clients, there was always a natural gift that Melodie almost had to hold back on. She couldn't use all her talent there as it was simply not offered in the menu. When Melodie started to tap back into her gift through practice and sharing with her friends and family, her gift came back with a force! It was strong, clear and ever-present. Melodie's approach is unique to anyone else ,that I've had treatments from, as she combines modalities unique to her chosen expertise. Reiki and craniosacral therapy have provided a connection for me that I couldn't make sense of myself. It's as if she was able to travel inside my internal world, massage all the kinks out with out massaging, understanding where the stressors begin and where they travel in my body and how they 'depend' on or 'affect' each other. And then the other layers come in and that is where she can hear, receive and interpret visions that are communicated to her...she channels and provides, it's wonderful. Distance session or not....it's all the same. Melodie has a way of blending the bodies physical system with our emotional and mental wellness, to foster true and clear spiritual guidance. Her innate gift and knowledge come together and provide a positive viewpoint on how everything is working together and how it can heal to live optimally. Everytime she's treated me, it feels as if I've had an internal massage and all the innermost workings make a little more sense. She seems to detangle the knotted 'Christmas tree lights' that can build up inside and make daily living harder. After a distance session I have a great sense of comfort, ease and security in my personal place and journey here on earth...everything just makes better sense and I'm able to sit with things rather than resist them.
